Wet Together
Hydrofeminism means recognizing water as the fundamental commonality between all bodies on this planet, since every human, animal, plant, or stone consists at least partly of water. Recognizing that the permanently circulating element flowing through our and other bodies has existed in constant transformation for billions of years, abstracts water into a timeless hyper-datastore—turning all its carriers into queer actors in a universal archive.
WET TOGETHER is, amongst other things, a hydrofeminist manifesto. It addresses posthumanist, ecological, and neo-materialist perspectives; it “composts” quotes and video material from artists whose work centers around water, (life) cycles, anthropocene posthumanism, biases, and variegated gender roles.
Queerness here meets an environmental awareness. WET TOGETHER not only addresses environmental issues at an intimate level, turning it into a personal subject matter, it also challenges us to rethink common assumptions and ideas, as well as our own priorities. How can we redefine our bodies and the bodies that surround us? What repercussions do our private interactions register on a global scale?
