Nina Franz

Nina Franz is currently acting professor for the theory module of the program “Art in Discourse” and postdoc at the Institute for Media Studies at Braunschweig University for the Arts (HBK). Her dissertation on the history of military imaging from the early modern age to computerised warfare was published in 2025. Her research interests also include the negotiation of the climate catastrophe in art and science, the civilian and military history of automation and practices of witnessing warfare in the digital age. Nina has worked as a freelance curator for the Goethe Institute in Beijing and Seoul and as research associate for the Institute for Cultural History and Theory as well as the Excellence Cluster Image Knowledge Gestaltung, Humboldt University Berlin, and at the Faculty of Media at Bauhaus University Weimar.
