Lucia Mattes

Lucia Mattes is a visual artist currently pursuing her Meisterschüler:innen studies at State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsuhe. In 2024, she earned her diploma at the same institution.

Her work primarily focuses on exploring the intersection of internet and youth culture through large-scaled wall tapestries created using the dry felting technique. Drawing inspiration from internet phenomena such as memes, Mattes elevates transient digital trends into tangible art forms, challenging the dichotomy between the ephemeral nature of online content and the meticulous craftsmanship involved in her process.

She has participated in numerous group exhibitions and held solo xhibitions at Städtische Galerie Fruchthalle Rastatt (2021), LAF-Leerstand als Freiraum e.V. Pforzheim (2022), Galerie Monica Ruppert Frankfurt (2023), PAW Gallery Karlsruhe (2023).
