Johanna Schäfer

Johanna Schäfer is a designer, editor and translator currently based between Karlsruhe and Vienna. With a background in English and Irish literature, her design work often explores strategies of narration, knowledge-production, documentation, and speculation. Besides her own practice, she has been editing, translating, and transcribing in different collaborations since 2015 on topics such as design history, German reunification, the mining industry, animals, and the history of nuclear science. She is part of the editorial staff of UMBAU, as well as an editor for Bookboi*, the in-house publication platform of HfG Karlsruhe, and co-founder of micro-scale publisher Accidental Interest Books (AIB).
